Sportking Institute of Fashion Technology has become a prime institute owing to its association and vision of its promoters.
The course curriculum is regularly revised by constant inputs from the industry experts having vast experience in textiles, apparel and retail business. The Academic Board reviews and revises the curriculum contents in consultation with doyens of the Industry every two years and provides updated education to its students. Students of SIFT have the advantage that where the syllabus is designed by academicians the same is fine tuned to the needs of industry by the industry leaders. Our academic board comprises of Mr.Gautam from Kudu Exports, Mr.Varun Jain from Venus Garments and Dr.Sandeep Kapoor, PAU.
SIFT has signed memorandum of understanding with many Apparel Industries, Educational Institutes as well as Trade and Industrial Associations thus giving a distinct advantage to its students.
In order to keep abreast with the latest trends and innovations the students interact with the leading industries of Ludhiana especially during their final level. Along with the constant exposure and visits to the industries the students undertake an 8 -week industrial internship to deepen their knowledge base and develop a professional approach, enabling them to play a responsible role in a team situation.
Some of the leading Industries where our students have undergone internship are: Shoppers Stop, Pantaloon, Wills, Lifestyle, Indus League, Pyramid, Pepe, Malwa, Matrix, Triburg, Nahar Industries, Eveline, Orient Craft and Lilliput.
To keep up with the rapid and dynamic changes in the global apparel and fashion trade along with the new challenges faced by the Indian apparel industry for its place in the future business, students here in SIFT are given a comprehensive training with a focus on developing them as independent solution providers with strong intellectual, analytical and professional skills. The programme also emphasizes on intensive theoretical and applied training in the core areas of production complimenting with merchandising and textiles. The focus of the programme is to reinforce knowledge with the practical experience with industry visits to the apparel organizations like Vardhaman Synthetics, Ashoka Dyeing for yarn and fabric processing. For their continuous development and upgradation, the students are exposed to production systems, processes, product analysis and quality assurance to vertically integrated units like Malwa, Nahar and Eveline etc. The students are free to take advantage of these amenities to understand the process and see all the machines in running and to get the feel of how Apparel Industry works.
For appropriate understanding of the concepts and efficiency in time management the end term projects in the industry are conducted by the students in the core areas like planning and scheduling, MIS and Inspection criteria in the core industries of Ludhiana. Regular visits are made to the exhibitions and fairs like KnitWorld, Knit Vision and Gartex for understanding the capabilities of different types of machinery and equipments.
