The State of the Art Machinery and Equipment

SIFT is one institute of its kind in India which has the best of the infrastructure, the institute has best of the machinery and equipment. It has ten work stations of Morgan CAD system; Morgan is a Korean company and is world leader in CAD CAM systems for apparel industry. For sewing machines, the institute imported machines from Korea and Japan. For its Knitting Lab, the institute imported five state of the art Designing Systems and latest Knitting Machine with loads of features from Stoll of Germany. For Fashion and Knitwear Designing SIFT has bought software from South Korea. The experienced and qualified staff of these units always welcomes the students and is there to answer all their queries. The advantage students at SIFT have is hands on training on latest equipment used by the industry.

The Curriculum

The course curriculum guidelines have been given by the experts of the apparel industry and the textile industry with their vast experience in textiles, apparels and retail business.Dedicated faculty and an infrastructure of International Standard has made its presence felt in the Fashion Industry even before the first batch has passed out to serve the Industry. The Academic Board reviews and revises the curriculum contents in consultation with doyens of the Industry every two years and provides updated education to its students. Students of SIFT have the advantage that whereas the syllabus is designed by academicians the same is fine tuned to the needs of the industry by the industry leaders.

In addition to the undergraduate diploma courses in Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Fashion Merchandising and production and Fashion Retail Management, the institute also has affiliation with Punjab Technical University to offer B.Sc in Fashion Technology under distance education mode giving its students a dual advantage.

SIFT has signed memorandum of understanding with many Apparel Industries, Educational Institutes as well as Trade and Industrial Associations thus giving a distinct advantage to its students.

E-Readiness Centre other Associations

Sportking Institute of Fashion Technology is a strategic partner of Microsoft in project “Vikas”, a government of India project to develop SME’s in India. There will be twenty-five clusters across the country and Ludhiana is one of them. Microsoft chose SIFT as its partner in training and upgrading knowledge base of worker, supervisors, managers as well as entrepreneurs.

MSME- Micro small & medium enterprise training department is running short term expert programs for the students at SIFT. The future plan is to develop manpower for the upcoming retail sector.

APEX Cluster, FEKTAA & Knitwear Club provide an edge to the institute as they are an innovative support to carry forward the programs & also motivate the students by providing timely information about the trends in the Apparel Industry.
